The biggest differentiator is clinical exposure. Ohio State students are in a city with extensive healthcare systems, including Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and related specialty facilities, which creates more options for shadowing, volunteering, patient-facing work, and medically adjacent campus jobs. For pre-med, that matters because building sustained clinical experience is often one of the harder parts of the application.

Research is another area where Ohio State stands out. Because it is a large research university with its own medical school and major life sciences presence, there are simply more labs, more faculty doing biomedical work, and more structured ways to get involved across neuroscience, public health, biology, and translational medicine.
