Is the University of Arizona or USC better for computer science undergrad?

For undergraduate computer science, USC is usually the more powerful option if your priorities are program depth, access to major tech employers, and a strong alumni network in industry. Its Viterbi School of Engineering has a well-established CS reputation, close ties to Southern California tech and startup ecosystems, and a career network that tends to be especially active for internships and full-time recruiting. USC fits the student who wants a higher-density opportunity environment built into the school itself. Being in Los Angeles matters for internships during the school year, not just in the summer, and USC students often benefit from employer presence on campus, strong alumni responsiveness, and a private-school level of advising and networking access. If you are the kind of student who will actively use office hours, research openings, startup clubs, hackathons, and alumni outreach, USC gives you a lot to work with.

Arizona fits the student who is cost-conscious, more independent, and comfortable creating opportunities rather than expecting them to come prepackaged. The University of Arizona has a legitimate engineering and computing presence, and motivated students can absolutely land strong internships and jobs, especially if they build projects, seek research early, and cast a wide net geographically. For some students, graduating with less debt can matter more than attending the more recognized program.

For jobs after graduation, USC tends to have the edge because of brand visibility in tech, employer access, and network strength. That does not mean Arizona closes doors, but USC usually opens more of them more quickly.

Arizona becomes very compelling when the financial difference is large or when you want a big public university experience and are confident you will hustle for opportunities on your own.
