Is Florida State or University of Colorado Boulder better for social life?

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Florida State tends to offer a more concentrated, high-energy social scene centered around campus traditions, sports, and a very active weekend culture, while Colorado Boulder often feels more spread between campus social life and the outdoors, with students dividing time between parties, clubs, Boulder itself, and activities like hiking or skiing. At FSU, it is usually easier to plug into a lively social atmosphere quickly because the campus culture is so visibly outgoing. At CU Boulder, the social scene is active too, but it can feel a little more self-directed because students connect through both campus life and the surrounding lifestyle.

For meeting people fast, FSU probably has the edge. It has a reputation for a very social student body, strong school spirit, and a campus environment where football weekends, Greek life, student organizations, and going out are all major parts of how people bond. If you want a place where the social energy is obvious and consistent, FSU is often the more immediately welcoming option.

CU Boulder is still very social, just in a different way. Students often build friendships through residence halls, clubs, concerts, downtown Boulder, and outdoor recreation as much as through traditional party culture. That can be great if you like having multiple social lanes, but it may take a bit more initiative to find your crowd because not everyone is plugging into the same scene.

Weekend life also feels different. At FSU, the classic college weekend experience is a big part of campus culture, and there is usually something happening tied to the university community. At Boulder, weekends can be social in a more mixed format, with some students going out and others heading into the mountains or spending time off campus.
