What is campus life like at Wesleyan vs Bowdoin?

The biggest day-to-day tradeoff is that Wesleyan tends to feel more socially expansive and self-directed, while Bowdoin usually feels more close-knit and structured. At Wesleyan, students often describe the culture as creative, independent, and a little less polished, with a social scene spread across student groups, performances, co-ops, and house-based events in Middletown. At Bowdoin, campus life is more centered on the college itself, with a tighter residential community in Brunswick and a reputation for students being friendly, engaged, and more consistently plugged into shared campus traditions.
