Is UC Davis or the University of Georgia better for business majors?

At UGA, the Terry College of Business is one of the school’s most visible academic strengths. At UC Davis, business interest is often pursued through managerial economics, economics, or related programs, so the path can feel less direct if you specifically want a traditional business major experience.

For academics, UGA has the clearer edge for a student who knows they want business. Terry has a strong reputation, a broad set of business disciplines, and a more straightforward identity for employers looking for business graduates. That matters because your coursework, student organizations, and internship preparation are more likely to be organized around business from the start.

For career opportunities, geography plays a role. UGA benefits from strong connections in Georgia and the broader Southeast, with Atlanta being a major advantage for internships, corporate recruiting, finance, consulting, marketing, and accounting. UC Davis has access to Northern California, which is valuable, but Davis itself is not as directly tied to major business recruiting as some other California campuses, so students often have to be more intentional about building that path.

Student experience also differs. UGA tends to feel more like a traditional business school environment with a bigger business community and clearer professional momentum. UC Davis is an excellent university overall, but for business specifically, many students there are building a business-adjacent route rather than stepping into a flagship undergraduate business program.
