The biggest practical difference is that UW is embedded in Seattle, while Purdue is in a classic college-town setting. At the University of Washington, you have direct access to a major city’s neighborhoods, restaurants, concerts, internships, and public transit, and campus life blends much more naturally into city life. Purdue’s campus is active and walkable, but West Lafayette and neighboring Lafayette feel far smaller and more self-contained.

If your goal is an everyday urban experience, UW is the clearer match. The campus sits within Seattle and is connected to the rest of the city in a way that makes off-campus exploration feel normal, not like a special trip. Students can get to areas like Capitol Hill, downtown Seattle, and the University District easily, and there is a much wider range of things happening around you at any given time.

Purdue does have plenty to do nearby, and the Chauncey area, West Lafayette, and downtown Lafayette give students restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and local events.
