How does Case Western admission difficulty compare to Brown?

Brown is substantially harder to get into than Case Western for most applicants. Brown is one of the most selective Ivy League schools, with a highly self-selecting applicant pool, while Case Western is selective but operates in a different tier of admissions difficulty. In practical terms, a student who looks competitive for Case Western may still be a long shot at Brown, even with strong grades and test scores.

Brown tends to draw a very large number of applicants with near-perfect academics, strong extracurricular depth, and distinctive personal profiles. Its admissions process is not just about being academically qualified. It is also about standing out among many applicants who are already extremely accomplished. That makes Brown difficult even for students with top numbers.

Case Western also attracts strong students and expects solid academic preparation, especially in rigorous coursework. But its applicant pool is usually broader and less compressed at the very top than Brown’s. A high-achieving student with strong STEM preparation, good grades, and thoughtful application materials is often much more realistically in range at Case Western than at Brown.
