Which is better for finance careers, University of New Hampshire or Boston College?
I’m trying to choose between UNH and Boston College and I want to go into finance after college. Both schools seem like they could lead to good opportunities, but I’m not sure which one has the stronger reputation or recruiting path for finance careers.
I’m mainly trying to figure out which school would give me a better shot at internships and jobs in finance.

The biggest practical tradeoff is access: Boston College gives you a much stronger built-in path to finance recruiting, while UNH can still work but usually requires more self-driven networking and a narrower target list. For internships and full-time jobs, BC benefits from its location near Boston, a large alumni network in finance, and noticeably stronger on-campus interest from employers looking at business students. UNH can place students into finance roles, especially in New England, but it does not carry the same pull in high-finance recruiting.
If your goal includes investment banking, asset management, equity research, or other highly competitive finance tracks, Boston College has the clearer edge. Its Carroll School of Management is well known by employers, and BC alumni are active across Boston and New York finance circles. That matters because finance hiring often runs through alumni referrals, student clubs, early internship pipelines, and employer familiarity with a school.
UNH is more realistic as a path into corporate finance, regional banking, financial planning, or finance roles at companies in New Hampshire and the broader Northeast. You can absolutely build a solid career from UNH, but you will probably need to hustle more for the same kinds of opportunities BC students see more regularly. In finance, the difference is not just classroom quality. It is who shows up to recruit, who answers student outreach, and how many graduates are already in the seats you want.
Cost can change the answer. If UNH is dramatically cheaper and taking on BC-level debt would limit your flexibility, that matters, especially in finance where your first job may not immediately justify very high borrowing. But on career access alone, Boston College is the stronger choice for finance and gives you the better shot at internships and recruiting traction.
