Is Florida State or Temple better for internships?

Temple is usually the stronger option if internship access is your top priority for a typical student. Its biggest advantage is location: being in Philadelphia puts students close to a large concentration of hospitals, nonprofits, media companies, government offices, schools, startups, and major employers that actively use interns during the school year.

Temple tends to fit students who want frequent, in-semester opportunities and easy employer access without needing to travel far. Being in a major city matters because you can realistically intern part time during fall or spring, attend networking events, and make connections through alumni and local organizations while staying enrolled full time. That setup is especially helpful for fields like business, communications, public health, politics, media, education, and healthcare-related paths.

Florida State can still work very well, especially for students interested in government, policy, law, lobbying, public administration, or state-level advocacy. Tallahassee gives FSU students direct access to the Florida state capitol, agencies, courts, and political organizations, which is a real advantage if that is your lane. FSU also has strong school spirit, and solid career support, but for many students the internship market is less broad and less dense than what Temple students can tap into in Philadelphia.

FSU makes the most sense for someone whose goals line up with Tallahassee’s strengths or who is comfortable relying more on summer internships, targeted networking, and field-specific opportunities. Temple is usually easier for the average student who wants a wider range of internship options nearby during the academic year. If your question is overall access, not just a particular major, Temple has the clearer edge.
