That matters for internships and first-job outreach because alumni are easier to find in a wider range of fields, not just in one region. Its professional schools and long-established recruiting pipelines also help the network feel active rather than just large on paper.

Georgia’s alumni network is still excellent, especially if you expect to build your career in the Southeast. In Atlanta in particular, UGA alumni are everywhere across business, law, media, government, real estate, and healthcare, and the school’s culture does create a willingness to help fellow grads. For state politics, regional business, and industries tied closely to Georgia and neighboring states, that network can be extremely useful.

So if the question is simply which school has the stronger alumni network overall for long-term career value, Michigan is the safer answer. Georgia becomes very compelling if you know you want to stay in the Southeast, but for reach, cross-country recognition, and the likelihood of finding alumni connections in more places and industries, Michigan comes out ahead.
