Is the University of Georgia or Fordham better for finance?
I’m a high school senior trying to narrow down my college list, and both of these schools are on my radar for finance. I know they have different reputations and locations, so I’m trying to understand which one is generally stronger for finance opportunities and recruiting.

For finance, Fordham usually has the clearer edge if your main priority is access to internships, alumni connections, and recruiting tied to New York City. Its Gabelli School of Business is well known, and being in NYC makes it much easier to intern during the school year and build relationships with firms before senior recruiting. UGA is also a very solid option, especially if you want a bigger campus experience, lower costs for in-state students, and strong placement in the Southeast.
Fordham fits students who want to be close to the action early. If you are aiming at investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, or other finance roles where networking matters a lot, being in New York can make a real difference. The school’s location and business focus help students get part-time internships during the semester, not just over the summer, and that can strengthen your resume faster.
UGA makes more sense for students who want a traditional large public university with strong school spirit, a broad college experience, and a respected business education through Terry College. Terry has a good reputation, especially in the South, and UGA students do land in finance. The difference is that recruiting is often more regional, with especially strong ties to Atlanta and the Southeast rather than the same level of day-to-day Wall Street access.
Cost should matter here too. If you are in-state for UGA or would get much less debt there, that can be a very compelling reason to choose it, because finance outcomes depend heavily on your initiative wherever you go. But if the prices are reasonably close and you know you want finance in a major market, Fordham gives you a more direct runway.
