Cal Poly stands out for its learn-by-doing model, strong employer relationships, and programs that are built to connect coursework with applied work.

If your goal is sheer volume and variety of internship options during the school year, UCLA usually has the edge. Being in Westwood makes it much easier to reach companies for part-time internships, academic-year roles, and networking events without needing to relocate for the summer. UCLA also has strong alumni reach, and that matters when students are looking for introductions at large firms or competitive industries.

Cal Poly can be excellent for internship outcomes too, especially in engineering, architecture, business, agriculture, and other applied fields.
