Which school has a stronger campus spirit, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign or UNC Chapel Hill?

UNC Chapel Hill usually feels stronger on day-to-day campus spirit. Carolina athletics are woven into the school’s identity in a very visible way, especially around men’s basketball, and traditions like Tar Heel game days, Franklin Street celebrations, and the broader UNC-Duke rivalry create a campus culture where pride is easy to notice even outside major events. If you want a place where school identity is constantly present in conversation, clothing, and big communal moments, UNC has the edge.

That said, UIUC absolutely has real spirit, just with a somewhat different feel. Illinois students show up for Big Ten sports, and football and basketball can create strong energy, but the atmosphere is often less singularly centered on athletics than at UNC.
