NYU makes the most sense for a student aiming at the most competitive finance paths and willing to use the school’s network aggressively. Being in Manhattan gives you access to coffee chats, semester internships, and events that are simply harder to replicate from most other campuses. Even outside Stern, NYU students can benefit from that ecosystem, though Stern carries the strongest brand for finance.

UT Dallas is more compelling for a student who wants a strong business education with better value and is open to building a career through Texas-based opportunities. It has solid connections in the Dallas business community, and Dallas is a real finance market with strength in corporate finance, commercial banking, real estate, consulting-adjacent business roles, and some investment banking access. Students who hustle at UT Dallas can absolutely land good finance jobs, especially in Texas, but the path into the most prestige-driven Wall Street roles is less direct.

If your question is strictly about employer perception and placement power in finance, NYU carries more weight. UT Dallas can be a smart choice when cost is significantly lower and your goals are broader than elite front-office finance, but for breaking into top-tier finance recruiting, NYU has the stronger platform.
