Its Naveen Jindal School of Management is well known in Texas, and the school’s location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex gives students direct access to internships in banking, corporate finance, real estate finance, and advisory roles while classes are in session. That proximity matters because a lot of finance recruiting happens through repeated employer contact, not just one big career fair.

The biggest differentiator is geography. UTD students can tap into the Dallas market, which is a strong hub for corporate headquarters, commercial banking, private wealth, and finance-related internships. Being nearby makes it easier to intern part-time during the semester, attend employer events, and build relationships that often turn into full-time offers.

The second differentiator is recruiter familiarity within the region. UTD is especially well recognized by Texas employers, and that regional strength is valuable if you want to start your career in Dallas, Houston, or elsewhere in the state. Arizona State has a larger national footprint and a strong business school in W. P. Carey, but for finance specifically, the UTD-to-Texas-employer pipeline is often more direct.

ASU can absolutely work well for broad business careers and has strong career services, a large alumni base, and access to the Phoenix market. But if you are targeting internships early and want a school where being in a major finance-friendly metro area is central to the student experience, UTD is the more practical launchpad.
