Arizona State or Boston University for internships: which has better access to internship opportunities?

Boston University has the edge for internship access. Its location in Boston matters a lot: students can reach hospitals, biotech firms, finance companies, media organizations, nonprofits, startups, and major corporate offices during the semester without needing a car, which makes part-time internships much easier to fit around classes.

Arizona State does offer plenty of opportunities, especially in the Phoenix metro area, which has been growing in tech, business, health care, and public sector work. ASU is also a very large university with a broad alumni network, so motivated students can absolutely intern well there. But the practical setup is a little less naturally convenient for many students, since opportunities can be more spread out across the metro area and transportation can matter more.

Another difference is the density of nearby institutions. BU students are surrounded by employers and research centers in a compact urban environment, which helps with networking, informational interviews, and in-semester work experience. At ASU, the scale of the university can create many options, but students often need to be more proactive about navigating such a large system.

For pure access, especially during the school year, BU is the stronger option.
