Virginia Tech or Tulane: which school has a bigger party scene?

Tulane has the bigger party scene overall. Its location in New Orleans makes a huge difference, because students are plugged into an off-campus social environment with festivals, bars, concerts, Mardi Gras, and a city culture that is unusually centered on nightlife. Tulane also has a long-standing reputation for a very active social scene that extends well beyond campus itself.

The biggest separator is setting. Virginia Tech is in Blacksburg, which has a strong college-town atmosphere and plenty of student social life, but it is still a smaller, more self-contained environment. Parties at Virginia Tech tend to feel more campus-centered, while Tulane students have access to a much broader city-based scene almost every weekend.

Greek life and traditional college parties exist at both schools, but Tulane is more often associated with a visibly intense social culture. At Virginia Tech, football weekends and campus traditions can make the social scene feel very lively, yet it is not usually described as being on the same nonstop level as Tulane’s New Orleans scene.

One thing worth keeping in mind is that "bigger party scene" does not always mean "more fun" for every student. Tulane’s social life can feel very outward-facing and city-driven, while Virginia Tech’s can feel more community-oriented and tied to school spirit, especially around sports and campus events.
