Purdue vs. Wake Forest for business: which is better for undergrad outcomes?
I’m trying to decide between Purdue and Wake Forest for business and I keep seeing different opinions online. I’m mostly interested in which school gives students a stronger path for internships, recruiting, and jobs after graduation.
I know both have solid reputations, but I’m having trouble figuring out how they compare specifically for undergrad business. I want to make the most practical choice for my career goals.

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale and recruiting style: Purdue gives you a larger public-university employer network and strong access to Midwest companies, while Wake Forest offers a smaller, more personalized business environment with especially strong advising and alumni engagement. For internships and first jobs, that often means Purdue can bring more volume and breadth of recruiting, but Wake can feel more hands-on and polished in how it prepares students for competitive business roles.
For undergraduate business specifically, Wake Forest often stands out for career development, student support, and placement into finance, consulting, and corporate roles where presentation, networking, and close faculty access matter. Its business school is a central part of campus life, and students often benefit from tighter access to professors, smaller classes, and more individualized career coaching.
Purdue has real strengths too, especially if you value a broad employer base, strong name recognition in the Midwest, and the advantages of a large university with many recruiting relationships. Even though Purdue is best known nationally for engineering and STEM, that can actually help business students in areas like supply chain, analytics, operations, and roles connected to manufacturing, tech, and industrial firms.
I’d lean Purdue if cost is meaningfully lower or if you are drawn to analytics, operations, supply chain, or a large-campus recruiting ecosystem. If the prices are close and your priority is internships and job placement from a business-specific undergraduate experience, Wake Forest is the one I would pick.
