University of Rochester vs Columbia: which is more prestigious in college admissions and public perception?

In overall public perception and college admissions, Columbia is more widely seen as the more prestigious school. It has the Ivy League label, much broader national and international name recognition, and a stronger association in the public mind with elite admissions. University of Rochester is absolutely respected, especially in academic and professional circles, but it does not carry the same immediate status signal for most people.
