Michigan vs Brandeis for science majors: which is better for undergrad research and STEM opportunities?

I'm a high school junior trying to compare these two schools for a science major. On paper they both seem strong, but I keep seeing different opinions about how much access undergrads actually get to research, labs, and professors.

I'm mainly trying to understand which school would give a science student better opportunities during undergrad, especially for getting involved early and building experience for a future STEM path.

Michigan may require more initiative at the start, but once you plug in, the long-term ceiling for research volume, specialized facilities, and interdisciplinary STEM options is higher.

If your priority is the widest possible range of science research and the strongest overall STEM ecosystem, Michigan is the more powerful option. If you care most about a smaller setting with closer day-to-day professor access and still solid science research, Brandeis is very appealing.
