Arizona State vs. Illinois for internships: which school has better internship opportunities?

For internships alone, Illinois usually has the edge if you want a school with very strong employer recognition, heavy on-campus recruiting, and a deep pipeline into technical, engineering, and business internships. UIUC is especially well known among major employers in engineering, computer science, accounting, and finance, and its alumni network in those fields is a real asset. Arizona State can still be excellent, but it tends to work best for students who want to take advantage of a large metro area during the school year and who are willing to be proactive in a very big university environment.

Illinois fits the student who wants a campus where recruiters already know the programs well and where internship recruiting can feel more built into the academic culture. ASU also has strong career services and many employer connections, but because the student body is so large, students often need to be intentional about joining the right clubs, using the career center early, and building relationships with professors and recruiters.

If you are comparing the overall internship environment, Illinois is probably stronger on national employer pull and structured recruiting power. ASU can be very attractive if location during the academic year matters a lot and you want to tap into the Phoenix market while classes are in session. The practical difference is that Illinois often opens more doors automatically, while ASU can reward hustle and local networking very well.
