Ohio State usually feels bigger and more spread out in day-to-day student life. Its Columbus campus has a very large, urban footprint, heavy student traffic, and a constant sense that the university blends into a major city. Florida is absolutely a big-campus school too, but Gainesville tends to feel more self-contained and a little easier to mentally map as a student.

If what you want is the feeling that the campus just keeps going, Ohio State is the one that most students describe that way. Walking between different academic zones, residence areas, the Oval, the RPAC area, and nearby off-campus streets can make the university feel massive. Because it sits in a major city, there is also more of that busy, always-moving atmosphere where campus and city life overlap.

Florida fits the student who wants a large flagship with lots happening, but in a more contained college-town setting. UF’s campus is still expansive and active, with plenty of energy, but it often feels more centered around a traditional campus core rather than spread across a huge urban environment. Many students experience it as big without feeling quite as sprawling.

A lot of this comes down to what kind of “big” you mean. Ohio State feels larger spatially and more diffuse. Florida feels large socially and institutionally, but often a bit more cohesive.
