If one school is meaningfully cheaper for your family, that cost difference should carry real weight.

Case Western’s location in Cleveland gives students direct access to major hospitals, research institutes, and STEM internships during the school year, which matters a lot for students aiming at medicine, biomedical fields, engineering, or lab-based work. Lehigh has a strong reputation in business, engineering, and interdisciplinary programs. That makes Lehigh especially appealing if you want a campus-centered undergraduate experience with solid professional placement.

In terms of value, I would not treat this as a prestige question because the two schools are respected in somewhat different ways rather than one clearly dominating the other. For many students, the better financial decision is to avoid paying a large premium unless the more expensive school is distinctly better for your intended major and goals. For example, paying extra for Case Western can make sense if you plan to take full advantage of hospital, research, and STEM opportunities that are unusually accessible there.

I would be more cautious about paying a big premium for Lehigh unless you specifically value its campus culture or business strengths.
