Does UC Berkeley have a medical school?

UC Berkeley does not have its own medical school. While Berkeley is very well known for its strengths in science and pre-med programs, if you want to attend an actual medical school after your undergraduate degree, you would need to apply elsewhere.

Many students complete their undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, majoring in fields like Molecular and Cell Biology, Public Health, or Integrative Biology to prepare for med school. Berkeley provides plenty of research opportunities, strong faculty, and pre-med advising, which helps students become strong applicants for medical school.

If staying in California is important to you, Berkeley is a very solid place to do your undergrad studies—but you’ll still need to apply to medical school as a separate process after earning your bachelor’s degree.

If having an undergraduate-to-medical school program at the same campus is a priority for you, you might want to explore options like UCLA, UCSD, or USC, which all have their own medical schools. However, UC Berkeley’s reputation and resources do provide a great foundation for pursuing medicine even without an on-site med school.
