One big difference is the shape of student life outside class. Wake Forest, in contrast, tends to have more of its undergraduate social energy concentrated on and around campus, which usually makes it easier for a student to plug in quickly.

Carnegie Mellon students are often described as collaborative and interesting, but also quirky, focused, and busy in ways that can make socializing something you intentionally schedule. Wake Forest more often carries the reputation of being outgoing, polished, and socially active in a visible way.
