Is Drexel or George Mason better for business?

The biggest practical tradeoff is Drexel’s career-focused structure versus George Mason’s lower-cost, DC-area flexibility. Drexel’s LeBow College of Business is especially known for integrating business study with co-op, which can give you substantial full-time work experience before graduation. George Mason’s business school benefits from its location near Washington, DC and Northern Virginia, with access to a large regional job market in consulting, government-adjacent business, finance, and tech.

For business specifically, Drexel usually has the stronger national reputation. LeBow is one of the more visible parts of Drexel, and the co-op model is not just an extra feature, it shapes the whole student experience in a way many employers understand and value. If you want a business education that feels tightly tied to internships, résumé building, and applied experience from the start, Drexel has a real edge.

George Mason is still a credible option, especially if cost matters or if you want to build connections in the DC metro area while in school. Its School of Business is well positioned for students interested in careers that intersect with public policy, data, government contracting, or the broader Northern Virginia economy. The student experience can also feel more flexible and less structured than Drexel’s, which some students prefer.

In terms of overall college experience, Drexel is more urban and professionally intense, and its academic calendar can feel shaped around work opportunities. Mason can feel broader and a bit less centered on one signature model, but it offers strong access to internships during the school year because of its location.

If the question is which school is stronger for business on the whole, I’d give the nod to Drexel. George Mason becomes especially compelling when the price is better or when you specifically want to build a career in the DC and Northern Virginia market.
