Boston University vs Temple for business: which is better for undergrad outcomes?

The biggest practical tradeoff is cost versus reach: Boston University usually gives you a broader national brand and stronger access to larger corporate recruiting pipelines, while Temple often delivers better value for the price, especially if you are in-state or receive a strong scholarship. For undergrad business outcomes specifically, BU’s Questrom School of Business tends to have the edge in employer visibility, alumni presence across major cities, and access to internships during the school year in Boston. Temple’s Fox School of Business is well known in the Philadelphia market and can lead to very solid results, but its recruiting strength is more regional.

If your definition of “better outcomes” is the widest range of internship and first-job options, BU is usually the stronger pick. Boston gives students access to a dense internship market in finance, consulting, marketing, healthcare, tech, and startups, and Questrom benefits from being attached to a university with a strong overall reputation.

Temple is not weak on outcomes at all. Fox has strong ties in Philadelphia, and students who are proactive can do very well in accounting, finance, MIS, marketing, and corporate roles. The advantage at Temple is that a lower cost can dramatically improve your long-term return, especially if the BU price would require heavy borrowing. A somewhat less powerful recruiting platform can still be the smarter decision if you graduate with much less debt.

For pure undergrad business opportunity, I would give BU the advantage. For long-term value after factoring in likely debt, Temple can absolutely come out ahead.
