Which is better for finance internships: Boston College or Syracuse?
I’m trying to decide between Boston College and Syracuse and I’m interested in finance. I know both have business-related opportunities, but I care most about which school gives students a stronger path to getting finance internships during college.
I’m mainly trying to understand the overall advantage from the school name, alumni network, and recruiting access for finance.

Boston College has the clearer edge for finance internships. For undergrads aiming at finance, BC benefits from a much stronger presence in Boston and the Northeast pipeline, a very active alumni network in banking and asset management, and a business school that is more commonly on employers’ radar for finance roles.
Location matters a lot here. Boston gives BC students easier access to in-semester internships, networking events, informational interviews, and alumni coffee chats with firms in investment management, commercial banking, private wealth, and related fields. Syracuse can absolutely place students into finance internships, but it does not offer the same day-to-day proximity to a major finance hub during the school year.
Recruiting access is the other important separator. BC is more likely to have stronger on-campus attention from finance employers, especially for students targeting competitive internships in banking, markets, or corporate finance. Syracuse students can still reach those outcomes, particularly if they hustle and use New York connections well, but BC gives you a better starting platform before individual effort even enters the picture.
