Is Georgetown or New York University better for networking opportunities?

For early, intentional networking, Georgetown often has the edge if your interests lean toward politics, policy, international affairs, consulting, finance, or law-adjacent paths.

Georgetown is especially strong for the student who wants a tight, high-touch network and is comfortable reaching out to people early.

NYU makes more sense for the student who wants sheer volume of opportunity and is ready to be proactive in a huge, fast-moving city. New York offers unmatched density for internships during the school year, especially in finance, media, entertainment, tech, fashion, marketing, and parts of entrepreneurship.

The tradeoff is that NYU networking can feel more independent and less curated. There are countless opportunities, but students often have to build structure for themselves and take initiative to tap them. That can be excellent for someone ambitious and self-starting, but less ideal if you want a network that feels immediately close-knit and institutionally connected.

So the stronger networking environment depends a lot on the kind of access you want. Georgetown is often more relationship-driven and especially powerful in influence-heavy fields. NYU is broader, bigger, and harder to exhaust, especially for students who want to start interning early and network across multiple industries at once.
