At Santa Clara, it may be easier to stand out in class and connect with advisors without navigating such a large system.

For clinical exposure, UCLA has a clear location advantage because of its ties to major medical centers and the wider Los Angeles healthcare network. Santa Clara students can still find shadowing, volunteering, and internships in Silicon Valley and nearby hospitals, but you will usually need to be more intentional about building those experiences off campus.

UCLA is the stronger platform if you want maximum opportunity and can handle a more competitive environment. Santa Clara can be an excellent pre-med choice for someone who knows they will thrive with more structure, smaller classes, and closer faculty contact, especially if that setting helps them earn stronger grades and recommendations.
