Is Boston College or Fordham more fun for undergrads?

The biggest practical tradeoff is traditional campus energy versus city access. Boston College has a more self-contained undergraduate social scene, with a residential campus, big school spirit around sports, and weekends that revolve more around the student body itself. Fordham gives you New York City at your doorstep, but that also means campus social life can feel more split because students often disperse into the city.

For day-to-day undergraduate vibe, Boston College is often perceived as more consistently social on campus. A lot of students live in a tighter campus bubble, there is visible community around athletics, and the overall atmosphere can feel more cohesive from Thursday through Sunday.

Fordham can absolutely be fun, but the fun is different. At the Rose Hill campus, you still get a real campus environment, and the surrounding Bronx location plus easy access to Manhattan creates a lot to do on weekends. The tradeoff is that social life is less centered on one unified campus scene. Some students love that independence, while others find it harder to tap into a single dominant social vibe.

On parties specifically, neither school is known for a huge traditional party culture in the same way some large state universities are. BC tends to have more of the classic campus-social feel, while Fordham students are more likely to mix campus gatherings with off-campus plans, restaurants, concerts, internships, and city outings. That makes Fordham exciting, but not always high-energy in one concentrated place.

If your definition of fun is strong school spirit, a busier on-campus weekend atmosphere, and a more classic undergraduate social environment, Boston College has the edge. If your idea of fun is having New York constantly available and building your own social life beyond campus, Fordham can be more exciting, but it usually feels less unified than BC.
