University of Vermont vs Swarthmore for academics: how do the academics compare?

Academically, these schools offer very different experiences. Swarthmore is much more centered on an intense, discussion-heavy liberal arts environment with small classes, close faculty access, and a campus culture that takes academics very seriously. UVM can absolutely provide a strong education too, but the experience is broader and more variable because it is a public research university with larger introductory classes and a wider range of academic pathways.

Swarthmore tends to fit the student who wants to be pushed hard in almost every class.
