Is University of Vermont or Michigan State more fun on campus?

Michigan State is more likely to feel fun on campus for the average undergrad, mostly because the scale of student life is much bigger and there is almost always something happening. East Lansing has a classic Big Ten energy, with major school spirit around athletics, a very large student body, and a campus setup that supports constant activity. If your idea of fun includes packed game days, big events, and lots of ways to meet people, MSU usually delivers more of that day to day.

One clear difference is the social scene itself. Michigan State has a much larger undergraduate population, more student organizations, and a more expansive campus culture built around residence halls, clubs, Greek life, and sports. That tends to create a louder, more visibly social environment, where it is easier to find parties, campus events, and spontaneous things going on during the week.

The other big factor is the surrounding atmosphere. UVM is in Burlington, which is a huge plus if you like a smaller, outdoorsy, indie-feeling college town with easy access to Lake Champlain, hiking, skiing, coffee shops, and local music. That can absolutely be fun, but it is a different kind of fun: less rah-rah campus energy, more off-campus lifestyle and outdoor recreation.

Campus personality matters here too. UVM often appeals to students who want a more laid-back, alternative, environmentally minded vibe, while Michigan State tends to feel more traditional, spirited, and high-energy. So if you mean fun in the sense of lively campus buzz and a bigger social scene, Michigan State has the edge.
