University of Vermont or University of Illinois Chicago: which is better for city life?

University of Illinois Chicago is the much more city-immersed option. UIC sits right in Chicago, so daily life includes easy access to neighborhoods, restaurants, concerts, internships, museums, and pro sports, and the CTA trains and buses make it realistic to live without a car. The campus feels integrated into the city rather than separated from it, so even routine things like grabbing food or going to an event often happen off campus.

Chicago is dense, fast-moving, and full of things to do at almost any hour, and UIC students can tap into that pretty naturally. University of Vermont gives you a smaller-city experience centered on Burlington. Burlington is lively, walkable, and has great restaurants, coffee shops, lakefront access, and local events, but it does not feel like a major urban environment. UVM tends to appeal more to students who want some city energy without being dropped into a huge metro area.
