Is UConn or Villanova better for accounting?
I’m trying to decide between UConn and Villanova for accounting and I’m having a hard time comparing them. I want to choose the school that would give me the better accounting education and help me prepare well for internships and jobs after college.
I know both are solid schools, but I’m not sure which one has the stronger accounting program overall.

For accounting, Villanova is often the sharper choice if you want a business-focused environment with especially strong access to firms in the Philadelphia and Northeast markets. Its School of Business has a very visible undergraduate business identity, and accounting is one of the areas students often point to as a standout for recruiting, alumni connections, and structured career preparation. UConn is also a strong option, especially for a student who wants a larger public university experience and access to a respected business school with solid regional recruiting.
Villanova tends to fit students who want a more concentrated pre-professional setting from the start. Because business is such a central part of campus academics there, accounting students often benefit from a tight alumni network, strong Big Four visibility, and a campus culture where internships, networking, and business involvement are highly built into the student experience. If you are the kind of student who wants close faculty access, a smaller-school feel, and a clear pipeline into accounting roles, Villanova has a real edge.
UConn makes more sense for someone who wants accounting within a broader, more traditional flagship-university setting. The School of Business is well regarded, and UConn places students into accounting and finance roles across Connecticut, Boston, New York, and beyond. It can be especially appealing if you value the resources, school spirit, and flexibility that come with a large public university, or if cost is significantly lower for you, particularly as an in-state student.
On pure accounting reputation and undergraduate business polish, I would lean Villanova. On value, campus scale, and the broader university experience without giving up a strong accounting path, UConn is very compelling.
