It is one of Europe’s premier STEM-focused universities, engineering is central to the institution’s identity, and its undergraduate programs are built around deep technical and mathematical training in a way Georgetown’s offerings are not.

The biggest differentiator is academic focus. ETH is fundamentally an engineering and science powerhouse, with extensive departments, labs, and research infrastructure across fields like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and materials-related areas. Georgetown is an excellent university, but it is much more known for international relations, public policy, economics, and the liberal arts than for engineering.
