Is UT Dallas or Baylor better for finance careers?

I’m trying to choose between UT Dallas and Baylor and want to go into finance after college. I know both schools have good reputations in different ways, but I’m not sure which one gives students a stronger path into finance jobs.

I’m mainly interested in how employers view each school for finance recruiting and which one seems to place students better into finance careers.

For finance careers, UT Dallas usually gives you the more direct path if you want broad access to internships, corporate finance roles, and recruiting in the Dallas market. Its location in the Dallas area matters a lot, because finance hiring is heavily regional and proximity makes networking, semester internships, and employer events easier. Baylor can absolutely place students into finance, but its edge is often more tied to a smaller private-school environment, a strong alumni culture, and students who are ready to be very intentional about networking.

UT Dallas tends to fit the student who wants to build a finance career through volume of opportunity and proximity to employers. Being near a major business hub helps with internships during the school year, and that can be a real advantage for roles in corporate finance, banking-related analyst tracks, real estate finance, and financial planning. Employers in North Texas know UT Dallas well, especially for business and quantitatively oriented students, so the school often makes practical sense for someone who wants to stay in Dallas after graduation.

Baylor makes more sense for the student who wants a more traditional campus experience and is willing to lean hard into relationship-based recruiting. Baylor’s alumni network is loyal, and that can help in finance, especially when students actively use it for mentoring and introductions. In some cases, Baylor may feel stronger culturally for students who value smaller-community connections and want a school where professors, advisors, and alumni can be more hands-on.

If your question is strictly about employer visibility and day-to-day access to finance opportunities, I would give UT Dallas the advantage. If your question includes which place might help you grow through closer community ties and alumni advocacy, Baylor becomes more compelling. For pure finance placement momentum, especially in Texas business circles centered on Dallas, UT Dallas is often the more straightforward bet.
