A UGA student can still land excellent Atlanta internships, particularly through networking, summer recruiting, and organizations with big Georgia alumni bases. But for many students, those opportunities are more likely to be summer-based unless they are willing to commute, relocate temporarily, or stack classes carefully.

So yes, being at Georgia Tech versus UGA does change how easy Atlanta internships are to access. The difference is most noticeable if you want semester internships or work tied to Atlanta’s tech and engineering ecosystem. If your interests are broader and you are comfortable targeting summer roles and using alumni connections aggressively, UGA can still get you there, but Tech has the clearer built-in advantage for Atlanta access.
