Tulane also has meaningful global opportunities, and its international focus fits well with the university’s broader culture. Students often find appealing programs tied to public health, development, language study, and region-specific interests, and New Orleans gives Tulane an internationally minded campus atmosphere. But the overall menu is typically not as expansive as UVA’s, especially if you want maximum flexibility across many fields.

Another differentiator is the range of program formats. UVA tends to be especially strong for students who want choices between traditional semester study, shorter summer experiences, and faculty-led options that can feel more guided. That variety is useful if you play a sport, have a tight sequencing-heavy major, or want to test out international study with a shorter program before committing to a full term abroad.

Tulane can still be a very appealing option if you want a smaller university feel and a campus culture that often emphasizes global engagement in a more personal way. But on the specific question of which school offers the stronger overall study abroad platform for undergraduates, UVA has the clearer edge.
