Which has a better campus feel, Georgetown or William & Mary?

William & Mary usually has the stronger traditional campus feel. Its campus is much more self-contained, students spend a lot of time in campus spaces, and the social environment is centered more clearly around the college itself rather than the surrounding city.

One big difference is physical layout. William & Mary has a classic, cohesive college campus in Williamsburg, with academic buildings, dorms, green spaces, and student hangouts woven together in a way that feels distinctly residential. Georgetown has attractive campus spaces too, but it sits inside Washington, DC, so the boundary between campus life and city life is less pronounced.

The student social pattern also feels different. At William & Mary, a larger share of student life happens on campus through dorm communities, campus events, traditions, and organizations. Georgetown students absolutely build community, but many also take advantage of internships, restaurants, neighborhoods, and off-campus opportunities in DC, which can make campus feel a little more dispersed.

Another factor is atmosphere. William & Mary tends to feel more intimate and college-centered, with a setting where students are more likely to run into the same people and treat the campus itself as the main hub. Georgetown often feels more outward-facing and connected to the city, which is exciting, but not quite the same as a strong enclosed campus vibe.

So if your priority is a cohesive place where campus itself is the center of daily life, William & Mary has the edge.
