Is Amherst College an all-girls school?
I was talking to my mom about colleges and she said Amherst used to be women-only, but when I look online I see pictures of guys there too. Now I’m kind of confused. Is Amherst College actually a women’s college, or did it go coed at some point?
I’m interested in applying and don’t mind either way, but just want to be clear about it before I add it to my list. If anyone knows about the history or how it is now, that would be really helpful!

Amherst College is coed and was actually never an all-women's college. In fact, it used to be an all-men's college and didn't become coed until 1975. Nowadays, Amherst is pretty evenly split in terms of gender makeup.
Your mom might be thinking of some all-women's colleges in the Five College Consortium, such as Smith College and Mount Holyoke College. Amherst is part of this consortium, along with Hampshire College, UMass Amherst, and the two aforementioned women's colleges. So, if you're interested in attending classes at all-women's colleges, you still can if you enroll at Amherst.
