Is UC Berkeley or Boston University better for graduate school prep?

BU is still a very solid choice, especially if you think you will benefit from a somewhat more structured undergraduate experience. Being in Boston can help with internships, hospitals, labs, policy organizations, and other off-campus opportunities, which is especially useful if your future grad plans are more applied or professional. In some fields, that kind of practical exposure can matter just as much as campus prestige.

One important reality is that Berkeley can be more competitive and less hand-holding at the undergraduate level. That can be excellent preparation for grad school, but only if you are ready to be proactive about office hours, research outreach, and finding mentors in a very large environment. BU may make it easier to stand out, get individualized support, and build close faculty connections earlier.

If your main question is which school carries more weight for graduate school prep in the broadest sense, I would lean UC Berkeley. Its academic reputation and research culture are hard to beat. I would only put BU ahead if you know you learn best in a somewhat more guided setting or you are aiming toward a path where Boston-based professional opportunities would be central to your development before grad school.
