Is the University of Washington or Harvard better for graduate school preparation?

Harvard is usually the stronger launchpad if your main goal is maximizing graduate school preparation across most fields. UW fits students who are comfortable navigating a big system and creating their own path. A motivated student there can absolutely reach top graduate programs, especially by joining research early, earning strong grades in rigorous courses, and building real relationships with faculty.

So if you mean overall, across fields, Harvard has the edge for graduate school preparation. If you mean value, scale, or specific research-heavy STEM pathways where you are ready to be highly proactive, UW remains a very serious option.
