CU Boulder vs Fordham for finance opportunities

I’m trying to decide between CU Boulder and Fordham and I care most about breaking into finance after college. I know both schools can lead to good careers, but I’m not sure which one has stronger recruiting, internships, and alumni connections for finance.

I’m a high school senior and want to pick the school that gives me the best shot at landing finance opportunities as an undergrad and after graduation.

For finance specifically, Fordham usually gives you a more direct path, mainly because of location and alumni access. Being in New York means internships during the school year are much more realistic, and Fordham students can tap into a large network in banking, asset management, accounting, and corporate finance without waiting for summer.

Fordham makes the most sense for a student who wants to be close to the action early and is comfortable being proactive in a fast, professional environment. If you want to spend sophomore or junior year interning part time in the city, attending employer events regularly, and building finance contacts face to face, Fordham gives you a clear edge. That matters a lot in finance, where timing, networking, and repeated exposure often shape who gets interviews.

CU Boulder fits better for someone who wants a broader college experience and is open to finance paths that are less centered on New York recruiting. Boulder can lead to strong outcomes in corporate finance, investment analysis, fintech, real estate, and roles tied to Denver’s business community. You can absolutely build a finance career there, but the route is usually less concentrated and may require more intentional effort if your goal is traditional high-finance recruiting.

If your definition of finance includes investment banking, Wall Street, or frequent in-semester internships, Fordham is the school with the clearer structural advantage. If you are more interested in a classic large-university environment and could see yourself targeting regional finance markets or a wider range of business roles, CU Boulder can work well. Between the two, Fordham gives the stronger undergrad finance setup because access to New York opportunities is built into the college experience rather than something you have to reach from farther away.
