For internship access alone, UCLA usually gives students a wider range of opportunities during the school year. Its location in Los Angeles matters a lot because students can realistically intern part time in entertainment, media, tech, startups, healthcare, research, and some business fields without needing to leave campus for a whole semester. UCLA also has a huge alumni presence in Southern California, which helps with networking and semester-time opportunities.

Florida can be a very good choice for a student who wants strong access to internships but is comfortable being more intentional about timing and geography. UF has solid recruiting, a large alumni network across Florida, and good pathways in business, engineering, healthcare, government, and research. For some students, especially those interested in Florida-based industries or who are happy to use summers for bigger internship moves, UF works very well.

UF tends to fit students who are proactive about using career fairs, employer connections, and summer breaks rather than expecting constant proximity-based access during the semester. Gainesville is a college town, so there are fewer nearby industry options than Los Angeles, even though the university itself provides meaningful research and professional opportunities.

So if your main question is where internship access is more realistic overall, especially while classes are in session, UCLA has the edge. Florida is still strong, but UCLA’s location gives it a more immediate advantage for year-round internship availability.
