For med school placement specifically, that day-to-day support system matters a lot because premed success depends heavily on GPA, recommendation letters, research, and sustained clinical involvement. Case Western’s connection to major medical institutions in Cleveland is a real advantage, and Berkeley’s size can make premed advising and large intro classes feel less personal.

Case Western is often viewed as the smoother path for a student whose top priority is maximizing medical school readiness. It has a strong pre-health culture, close proximity to its medical school and hospital network, and a campus setup where undergraduates can more often build direct relationships with professors and mentors earlier.

Berkeley absolutely places students into medical school, and it offers outstanding research, strong science departments, and major-name recognition.
