Wesleyan vs USC for internship opportunities: which school is better?

For internship access in media, business, and entertainment, USC usually gives students the more direct and abundant pipeline. Its Los Angeles location matters a lot: students can intern during the school year, not just in the summer, and USC has deep alumni connections in film, television, music, startups, consulting, and major companies across Southern California. For practical experience while still in college, that built-in proximity is a real advantage.

USC tends to fit the student who wants a large, professionally connected environment where internship hunting is woven into everyday college life. In fields like entertainment and media especially, being in LA means networking events, part-time internships, industry speakers, and alumni coffee chats can happen constantly. Marshall also adds a clear business ecosystem, and even students outside the business school can benefit from that broader recruiting culture.

Wesleyan makes more sense for a student who wants a smaller, more intimate campus with strong mentoring and is comfortable being more self-directed about turning relationships into opportunities. Wesleyan has an excellent alumni network, especially in film, media, writing, public service, and the arts, and its graduates are often very loyal. But because it is in Middletown, Connecticut, internships during the academic year can be less convenient and may require remote work, commuting, or more planning.
