Is Harvard or Duke better for biomedical engineering?

I'm a high school senior trying to decide where to apply and biomedical engineering is one of my main interests. Both Harvard and Duke seem strong overall, but I keep seeing different opinions about which one is better specifically for BME.

I'm mainly trying to understand which school is the better choice for an undergraduate biomedical engineering student.

For undergraduate biomedical engineering, Duke is usually the clearer pick if you already know you want a true, established BME major. At Duke, a BME student is stepping into a campus where engineering has a very visible home and biomedical engineering is one of the flagship options. At Harvard, a student interested in bioengineering can absolutely thrive, but the experience may appeal more to someone who wants a liberal arts environment first and an engineering specialization second.

So if your question is narrowly about the undergraduate biomedical engineering experience, Duke has the edge. Harvard becomes especially compelling if you want a broader academic ecosystem, unusual flexibility across disciplines, or you see yourself combining engineering with fields like molecular biology, public health, or entrepreneurship in a less traditional way.
