MIT vs UPenn for computer science: which is better for undergrads?
I’m a high school senior trying to narrow down my college list and these two schools keep coming up for computer science. I know both are strong, but I’m trying to understand how they compare for an undergrad who wants a serious CS education.
I’m mainly interested in the overall CS experience, not just rankings, so I’m looking for a straightforward comparison.

The biggest practical tradeoff is depth versus breadth: MIT offers a more purely technical, engineering-centered undergraduate CS environment, while Penn gives you strong CS plus easier access to business, design, healthcare, and other cross-school combinations. At MIT, computer science sits inside EECS and the Institute’s culture is intensely hands-on, problem-solving oriented, and deeply shaped by engineering.
