UC Davis vs Wisconsin for engineering: which is better for undergrad engineering?

For undergraduate engineering overall, Wisconsin has the edge if you want the broader engineering reputation and a more established, large-scale engineering environment. Its College of Engineering is especially well known across multiple traditional fields, and Madison has strong recruiting ties with major employers in the Midwest and beyond. UC Davis is still a very solid engineering school, but it tends to stand out more for students who want a collaborative campus, strong ties to California industries, and possible overlap with areas like environmental, biological, agricultural, or sustainability-focused engineering.

Wisconsin is a strong fit for the student who wants a classic big research university engineering experience with lots of depth. The engineering college is very visible on campus, the alumni network in engineering is extensive, and the school has long-standing strength in areas like mechanical, chemical, civil, industrial, and materials-related work.
